Package: jxplorer
Version: 3.2.1+dfsg-5
Severity: serious
In the changelog entry for 3.2.1+dfsg-5 is written "Removed gcj from
possible jvms (Closes: #609140)" but what has been removed is the
dependency on default-jre, which (AFAIK) does depend on different Java
implementations depending on the architecture. On kfreebsd-i386 it does
not depend on gcj, neither does it on amd64, btw.
Removing the default-jre dependency and depending on specific
implementations not available on all architectures causes the package to
become uninstallable on at least kfreebsd-i386 as sun-java6-jre's
dependency on "sun-java6-bin (>= 6.22-1) | ia32-sun-java6-bin (>=
6.22-1)" cannot be fullfilled on that architecture. There's no
openjdk-6-jre either there.
Since 3.2.1+dfsg-4 was not affected by #609140 on kfreebsd-i386 (starts
up fine), I consider this solution for #609140 to be the wrong one as it
causes regressions on some architectures.
I though know not enough about the different JREs to provide a
suggestion what will work instead, but will happily try new jxplorer
packages on different architectures.

you're right: As soon as I click on connect on kfreebsd-i386, I get a
java.lang.NullPointerException. So it really didn't work before
either.
Sorry that I didn't test further initially.
Regards, Axel
