Today the Translate team released version 1.8.0 of the Translate
Toolkit.  The Translate Toolkit contains many useful tools for
translation, management, and quality control. It is the technology
platform for Pootle, Virtaal, and other software.

This release contains several improvements and bug fixes.  It is
required for Pootle 2.1, and is also recommended for Pootle 2.0
installations.  There were over 300 commits since version 1.7.0.

This work was made possible by volunteers and our funders:
 - ANLoc, funded by IDRC http://africanlocalisation.net/


Highlighted improvements
========================

File formats:
 - Support for Adobe Flex files
 - Support for Mac OS X strings files
 - Support for Haiku catkeys files
 - Small bug fixes for Qt .ts, Gettext PO, and others
 - Recognise more subtitle extensions in sub2po and po2sub
 - Use the new aeidon library or Gaupol for subtitles


Languages and quality checks:
  - New plural information for Kazakh
  - New plural information for Uighur
  - Improvements to the XML test
  - Small customisations for several languages

Pootle will regenerate all statistics with the new Translate Toolkit

Terminology:
  - Improvements to poterminology
  - Improvements in the terminology suggestion code


Other improvements:
  - Improvements to indexing performance and reliability in Pootle

  - Improved coverage for our unit tests
  - Documentation improvements
