If you lock the session (C-A x, by default), close screen, and then
restore the session (screen -r), the session won't ask for a password.

I'm using the default screen configuration (no ~/.screenrc), Debian
GNU/Linux Sarge, kernel version 2.4.22-ac4-2-p4 and libc version
2.3.2.ds1-11.

This has been fixed upstream for the upcoming 4.1.0 release and is
fixed in the current screen version in Debian Experimental. Closing
this bug herewith accordingly.

                Regards, Axel
