I find vim's own replacement for less in /usr/share/vim/vim73/macros/less.sh
very useful. Could you please provide it in /usr/bin, maybe as a symlink called
vim-less or similar?

I'm glad you find the tool useful, but I don't think it's appropriate to
provide as a full replacement for less. It's also easy to setup in your
own environment. You can set it as $PAGER in your shell init files, or
symlink ~/bin/less to it depending on the specific usage you want.
