Package: emacs21
Version: 21.1-1
Severity: normal
Hi,
Usually, my numlock key is off in X. This is because I use fvwm2, and it
needs to have numlock turned off to have its shortcut keys working (there's
a reason for this, it's in the documentation somewhere, I don't really
care).
To type long numbers, it's easier to use the numpad, and even when numlock
is off you can still use numpad keys by holding shift. This works in every X
app I know of, nomatter what toolkit (none, Xt, GTK+, QT, ...) it uses, and
it used to work in emacs20 too.
With emacs21, it no longer does. When I press a numpad key it just gives me
the action that's associated with it without numlock on (home for 7, arrowup
for 8, etc.) regardless if I press shift or not.
Regards,
Filip

Hello,
Thanks for your interest in improving Debian, and sorry that the bugs
were not fully resolved or closed in due time.
emacs21 packages have been removed from testing in 2009 [1], not
present even in the current stable. Consequently, these bugs are now
orphan (without maintainer assigned) so they probably will not be
attended/noticed further.
[1] http://packages.qa.debian.org/e/emacs21.html
The bugs deemed valid are going to be verified and reassigned, but the
current bugs that I'm closing now are very ancient (more than 10 years
sometimes) and marked as fixed-upstream years ago, with no recent
input, and are supposed to be fixed in emacs22 at the latest.
Please comment if you want think that some of the raised questions are
still pending and need to be addressed differently (e.g., reassigned
to other packages, etc.).
Cheers.
