Package: qmail-src
Version: 1.03-24
Severity: wishlist

Hello.

I have the qmail package installed, and it's running under svscan and
supervise.

It is neither using the /etc/rc?.d symlinks, nor should it.

When the qmail package, built by your qmail-src package, is installed,
one of the post|pre{foo} scripts starts qmail, and fails to
shut down the existing qmail processes; this is unfortunate. Whenx
the package scripts start the qmail servers, those servers start
running on top of those that my system is already using -- making for
repeated looping, as the newly-started servers fail to actually run.

This would be ameliorated, if your qmail package would simply not try
to start or stop qmail, and leave it to the admin.

I suppose it would be a debian poliy violation, but it would also be
quite helpful, if the qmail package would not install the /etc/rc?.d/
symlinks, which we do not need anyway, when the thing is running
under svscan/supervise.

Thank you
