My installation of gallery2 is behind a firewall. Incoming web traffic is
sent to my web server. However, outgoing web traffic is blocked, and I must
instead use a proxy to retrieve documents via http. This works well for
almost everything. Most programs use the http_proxy environment variable, or
have another way to set the proxy. However, Gallery2 does not seem to have
any way to do that, and that is the feature that I would like to request. In
particular, I would like gallery2 to use the proxy for downloading plugins. I
think it would also make sense to use the proxy for adding items via URL.

thanks,
Brian Minton
