This leaves those connections in CLOSE_WAIT state. Which consumes kernel ressources and pushes emacs towards its maximum file descriptors limit, etc. The exact scenario where I hit this bug is: - run an emacs on host A - "ssh -X" from B/C/D/... to A - open an emacs frame (e.g. through gnuclient or "M-x make-frame-on-display") on that SSH connection. - close that frame - close the SSH connection - emacs does not close the corresponding socket, and netstat shows the connection as CLOSE_WAIT. Lather, rinse, repeat.
