Package: ltsp-server
Version: 5.4.2-6
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

On some clients there is no sound output with players such as cvlc, vlc or
kaffeine.
The programs are starting and then hanging.
Other clients are doing their job faultless.
No problem on all clients with mpg321.

cvlc -v says "pulse audio output error: overflow, flushing"

pulseaudio -vvv started locally at the client in a root shell is filling syslog
with "Processing rewind..." messages.

Solution / Workaround :
Setting the option
default-sample-rate = 48000
in the config file
/opt/ltsp/i386/etc/pulse/daemon.conf
works for me.

Don't know if it is a good idea to do that, because I don't understand the
working of the sound system in detail.
The sound problem did annoying me more than a year. Now it seems to work and I
couldn't detect any side effects as yet.

Sincerely,
Andreas

Having "solved" in the subject makes it a bit confusing what to do about
the bug report, fwiw. :)

I don't recall when, but I believe either the workaround went upstream,
or it's no longer an issue on recent installations.

Marking as resolved, please re-open or file a new bug report if this is
not the case.
