Package: mariadb-server-10.0
Version: 10.0.26-1
Severity: normal
File: /etc/logrotate.d/mysql-server

Hi,

I have the mysql/mariadb server installed but not enabled and started by
default on my testing machine, as I only need the server occasionally.

I regularly get failure messages from cron when logrotate is run:
/etc/cron.daily/logrotate:
^Gmysqladmin: connect to server at 'localhost' failed
error: 'Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket
'/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock' (2 "No such file or directory")'
Check that mysqld is running and that the socket: '/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock'
exists!
error: error running shared postrotate script for '/var/log/mysql/mysql.log
/var/log/mysql/mysql-slow.log
/var/log/mysql/mariadb-slow.log /var/log/mysql/error.log '
run-parts: /etc/cron.daily/logrotate exited with return code 1

I think the logrotate config should handle it gracefully if the mysql
server is not running.

Regards,
Michael
