Hi,
I see that poppler utils like pdftotext and pdftops have gained the
ability to work with stdin/stdout, while xpdf itself has learned to deal
with compressed files like report.pdf.gz or plans.pdf.bz2 through its
wrapper. I think the features requested in this bug are all present now,
so I'm closing this bug (after almost two decades!).
