Package: grip
Version: 2.98.5-1
Severity: wishlist

When grip isn't able to open the scsi-generic device to grip off a SCSI CDROM
(this is based on an ATAPI drive when using ide-scsi, so I'm inferring), it
prints "Unable to open cdrom drive; -v will give more information" and
considers the rip complete (ejecting the CD, etc., if configured to do so.)
When the /dev/sg? device isn't accessible to the user running grip, the error
will occur and the above message will be printed, without specifying what
device had the problem, or what kind of problem it was. The suggested -v
option does nothing useful for this error.

I eventually figured this out after the appearance of the "Generic SCSI
device" configuration option in 2.98, which prompted me to check the /dev/sg*
devices.

I suggest expanding the error to mention (a) on what filename the open error
occurred, and (b) what strerror() has to say about it.

Hi,

this is a ide-scsi specific error which doesn't occure anymore (since
ide-scsi is not used anymore), hence closing the bug.

Regards,
Daniel
