Hi Jason,

Thanks for your feature request.

This feature request is quite old and has not seen any activity in almost 10 years.

Screen is used in many, many contexts, and it is impossible to know the limitations of a user's terminal in advance.

Also, the visual appeal of a status line is quite subjective. There are many examples of attractive status lines available online.

Closing as wontfix.
