rtupdates scripts are brittle, especially if you do things in the 
pre-rtupdate hook, which is called in a preinst (with all the 
implications that has).

python-gnome2 does not run anything at pre-rtupdate time anymore, hence 
the reported problem is fixed. The underlying problem with rtupdates 
beeing really brittle can't be adressed for etch anymore, and as we 
don't have a lot of rtupdates in the archive (maybe 5 to 10) we can 
monitor them separately for etch.
