Yes, as you can read from the notification-daemon changelog, the daemon is no longer started via D-Bus activation, but needs to be started via the session manager / DE. notification-daemon ships an autostart file /etc/xdg/autostart/notification-daemon.desktop If icewm supports freedesktop autostart files, you can also start the daemon via that mechanism -- Why is it that all of the instruments seeking intelligent life in the universe are pointed away from Earth?
