I'm quite willing to believe this. It might be worth some attention as my
system is dead standard - I updated to Wheezy from Squeeze, and I'd not be
surprised if whatever happened happened then. It might be worth considering
it from that angle, as I can easily envision it biting other people
transitioning to Wheezy. If this is the case, I'd love to see it fixed before
Wheezy is released.

Is there a history of package versions maintained anywhere by default on my
system? Noting what version was in Wheezy the day I upgraded might be useful.
