Package: dnsutils
Version: 1:9.8.4.dfsg.P1-6+nmu2
Severity: normal
Dear Maintainer,
dig +trace retrieves root server list by an NS <Root> query on the local
recursive server. This query has the Recursion Desired bit set to 0 as
all the
iterative query after. Some ISP recursive server refuses query with RD flag
sets to 0 and dig +trace cannot be used in such situations.
dig needs an option to change the RD flag on this first query or another
way to
retrieve NS server list (like allowing a db.root file).
Regards,
Luc.
