Yes, you're somewhat wrong.  Qemu uses seabios, and it will not work as-is
with bochs bios.  Many new features (like, for example, sata) require some
code which is implemented in seabios.  Some other more regular/usual
features require certain behavour which seabios provide.  It is even more --
sometimes we require at least a particular version of seabios to avoid
crashes.

Using other bios implementations is not supported.  Just like you can, in
theory, flash different bios to your motherboard, and it _may_ even work,
but it most likely wont, making your motherboard completely useless.
