Indeed it was an error in my preseed file. It actually did occur in the part which I posted in the initial bugreport. Strangely enough, the part which created the error must not have survived the copy-paste from my preseed file. The error was simply that I had a space at the end of the live-debconfig/passwd/user-name line which in turn made chpasswd and useradd fail in the ways written in my original report. I did not know that preseed files are sensitive to whitespace in such a way but indeed this was a bug in my preseed and not lxc. > > I think that lxc should abort the container creation process > > this is done in 0.9.0-14.
