Package: spikeproxy Severity: normal Dear Maintainer,
It seems to me that spikeproxy embedds a copy of timeoutsocket.py, which seems to be potentially duplicated in other packages (although slightly modified from looking at other copies). This isn't optimal to Debian standards. One solution would be to instead depend on a system package providing timeoutsocket (an RFP exists at #736935). But as timeoutsocket seems to be no longer needed in recent versions of Python (see the discussion at [0]), it may as well be removed from the installed files, making sure that the necessary patch is applied to upstream code. Thanks in advance if you can address this.
