severity: grave thanks Have experienced the same problem and solved manually by following the instructions on this bug.
I am raising severity because I just found out that I have no logs from the
moment I installed systemd, more than a week ago (and I found that out because
I needed to look in the logs).
Systemd should not break logging when installed.
