It doesn't. At least not by default. I'm not quite sure which instructions you mean, that you followed, can you elaborate? If syslog.socket is not started for you when you boot, can you reliably reproduce that? Or was it just, that you didn't have the rsyslog service enabled? -- Why is it that all of the instruments seeking intelligent life in the universe are pointed away from Earth?
