How do you suspend your laptop, which command do you use? systemd basically simply runs echo "mem" > /sys/power/state for suspend to ram and echo "disk" > /sys/power/state for suspend to disk. If the above two commands fail, it's more a kernel then a systemd issue. I'm actually not sure it the kernel support suspend to disk with a swap file.
