Since you didn't tell what was broken, one can only speculate. In the xfce4-power-manager bug report, you got the wrong advice to disable suspend in logind.conf on lid-close. If you do that, it is obvious that logind no longer suspends :-P -- Why is it that all of the instruments seeking intelligent life in the universe are pointed away from Earth?
