Thanks for your attention concerning bug 780520 (computer restarts after shutdown)
>> This problem appeared after an upgrade (debian jessie) done in january. >> The system was previously upgraded in october I think. > Can you find out, which version was installed before and which one after > the upgrade? There was a full jessie upgrade of the pc on january 2015, the 17th, this was systemd version 215-8. Everything was fine after this upgrade. The next upgrade was on february, the 7th, systemd version 215-10 was installed and the shutdown bug appeared. I am certain of the date of the upgrades, I got the systemd versions from the debian tracker. > I do use an external monitor as well (via a docking station), but I > can't reproduce the problem. The bug appears with a docking station also. > I wonder if this is a BIOS thing. Could you check your BIOS settings if > e.g. it has something like Always On USB. I don't see an Always On USB option in the BIOS. I can see that the following settings are enabled. USB device boot, Wake on USB, USB Charging port. The setting `Power on unit when AC is detected` is switched off. The laptop is 10 month old and only ran debian jessie. I didn't change anything in the BIOS. Also I don't have any problem shutting down the system if there are devices plugged in the USB ports. I will try with sysvinit instead of systemd and see if the problem is still there.
