I can't reproduce this bug here with the new version of inkscape, 0.43. It's interesting that you have the version from sarge installed and your APT prefers unstable. Can you please test with the new version? Apart from bugs in inkscape this can also be caused by the incompatibility of library versions. Thanks, Wolfi
