Don't worry, no offense taken. What does concern me is that, despite
claiming to be ABI-compatible with previous 1.3.x releases by default,
1.3.3 omits some symbols that they defined. (I guess FLTK's developers
consider it sufficient to preserve class and virtual table layouts.)

As such, I'm tempted to go ahead and activate assorted new features that
are disabled by default to avoid totally breaking ABI compatibility, as
described at http://www.fltk.org/cmp.php#FLTK_ABI_VERSION. I would then
of course rename the runtime library packages accordingly, calling for a
trip through NEW.
