I've been told that the priority is their video bridge. It seems getting jitsi itself in shape to include it in Debian is too much work. They have always been very slow at fixing issues in jitsi which is why it never made it in a stable release in the first place. You can't build the latest version anymore in unstable. You can't install the old version anymore in testing/unstable because of changed / conflicting libraries due to the C++ ABI change. Kurt
