I had a look and kprof's behaviour without graphviz is pretty bad, so I'll make kprof Recommend graphviz instead of just Suggest. I'd rather not hack around too much to implement checking for the presence of dot, so I suggest a less intrusive fix which is changing the error message to "dot could not display the data (1), is 'graphviz' installed?". If you're happy with these changes I'll go ahead and uploaded a fixed version of kprof.
