Oh right, indeed. I wasn't aware of this. This works perfectly. You can close it if you like.

However, seeing how #728621 and #610699 revolve around the same idea,
I'm starting to wonder if the default behavior expected from end users
shouldn't be to make contrib/ directly available by default.

If it is already shipped, you may want to make sure that the minimal effort is needed to benefit from it. After all, even old emacs users like me are emacs-configuration newbie... :)
