Can you share what you upgraded? (e.g. /var/log/apt/history.log)
scribus has not changed for more than 4 months, and also the last build
(a rebuild to pick a newer libpodofo) happened 84 days ago. I'm fairly
sure quite some people used scribus in the meantime (including
myself ;)) — including myself, and also you noticed how on another
computer.
I assume by your "whenever" that it is steadily reproducible.
Can you try to temporary move away your ~/.scribus and see if the bug is
reproducible?
