I am dealing with manual.six.gz files here.
When they are uncompressed with gunzip all is fine; when they are compressed 
again with
gzip, the issue reappears: I am afraid that no extra byte is involved here.
Second, I cannot see this extra byte in the involved manual.six files.

Sage just call GAP functions.
I am dealing here with sage 7.4.
