It's of comparable speeds, ipv4 over loopback is on-par with unix
socket really.

Yes, upstream #ifdef'ed the code when adding the parameter in Jan-2015,
but never defined the #define.

I'll take a look at this.

Meanwhile lowering severity to minor, as it is really a minor issue.
