There is a report at https://wiki.debian.org/HP/ProLiant to the effect that this was no longer an issue in kernel 4.6.3 from jessie-backports. Upstream commit https://git.kernel.org/cgit/linux/kernel/git/stable/linux-stable.git/commit/drivers/scsi/hpsa.c?id=9a4178b76a973684750d20b684bae4f57ab9a355 looks highly relevant and trivial to cherry-pick. Will test it ASAP.
