Are you using security=server?

Well, sure, the code was also a lot simpler years ago when we didn't have
support for NTLMv2, Kerberos, AD, and so forth. We also had fewer bugs
reported about crashes before the Samba packages in Debian started mailing
out crash dumps by default, since many smbd crashes would otherwise go
completely unnoticed by the admin and user. For both reasons, an increase
in the number of segfault bugs reported is not proof of a decrease in the
code quality.

If you have concrete information about your own crashes that would help us
debug them, please provide it. If you are interested in helping to triage
other segfault bugs, you're more than welcome to. If all you're offering is
vague and unhelpful criticism, your messages are likely to be ignored as
irrelevant.
