I fell into the trap of confusing a scanner on the network with a network scanner. It wouldn't be any consolation to you that, once I had my thinking straightened out, I reproduced the behaviour you described. Is avoiding a 3 second delay in 'lpstat -s' worth having this? -- Brian.
