Further information: I'm running a desktop and a laptop, both with XFCE, configured in the same way (as far as I can tell). On the laptop, the icon appears, on the desktop it doesn't. Furthermore, on the desktop, I examined the "Notification Area" properties, clicked on "Clear Known Applications", logged out and logged in again. All of the regular applications which place icons in the Notification Area reappeared in the list of known applications, but safeeyes did not reappear. Even when I quit safeeyes and restarted it, it still didn't appear in the list of known applications. I do have the "Show in tray" option enabled in the safeeyes configuration. Really really weird.... Best wishes, Julian
