Sorry I failed to answer your questions: not file location dependant
(/tmp/geeqie for exemple), metadata file in .local/ is properly updated
with a tiff:Orientation tag.

And the latest tests are with everything under pref/metadata unchecked
except "write altered image orientation to metadata". Strangely,
pref/image/auto rotate using exif does not seem to have the effect I
expected according to the test in line 477 of image.c.
