Also, I will provide a package that handles lib64 links for users that prefer a filesystem-based implementation; initially, there will be only the /lib64 interpreter.
Debian could offer libc6 free from /lib64, even by default, but Debian's position looks firm: users are not allowed to have systems without /lib64 even if there are no compatibility issues. A wontfix tag would be coherent with this decision.
