Thanks, Luke. It could be a good starting point but IMHO this script can not
be used as-is and it needs a lot of work...

Instead of using sloppy init script you might find it useful to try

  https://github.com/gdraheim/docker-systemctl-replacement

a standalone "systemctl" command to control services without systemd.

Installing it is easy: just save [1] as "/usr/local/bin/systemctl"
and make it executable.

That sounds very emotional... IMHO there is nothing wrong to assume
that nobody is forced to use reasonable system defaults.
