Please don't do that, i.e. starting potentially long running tasks from a udev rules file. This is explicitly documented as not supported: https://manpages.debian.org/unstable/udev/udev.7.en.html ============================================================== This can only be used for very short-running foreground tasks. Running an event process for a long period of time may block all further events for this or a dependent device. Starting daemons or other long-running processes is not appropriate for udev; the forked processes, detached or not, will be unconditionally killed after the event handling has finished. ============================================================== As we nowadays trigger cron hourly, I would guess the original issue is no longer valid anyways, as the chance that cron is executed is now much higher. Please consider dropping the udev rule again. -- Why is it that all of the instruments seeking intelligent life in the universe are pointed away from Earth?
