I've installed r-base-core 3.5.1-1+b2 to reproduce this bug, and I am able
to reproduce as described on Buster.
$ R -e 'message("OK")'
/usr/bin/R: line 193: /usr/bin/sed: No such file or directory
ERROR: option '-e' requires a non-empty argument
