On my machine F6 doesn't work at all. Nothing happens to alsamixer.

I am aware that alsamixer is not mouse-friendly, and I do not try to control alsamixer with the mouse. On the other hand, alsamixer seems to interfere with my mouse.

Steps to reproduce mouse freeze:
(1) open terminal
(2) start alsamixer
(3) press the F6 key

That's it. After that the mouse freezes into whatever position it is in on the screen and cannot be moved.

Pressing ESC to get out of alsamixer does not make the mouse able to move. Neither does closing the terminal where alsamixer was running. The mouse is frozen into position, and I can do nothing to make the mouse active again but reboot.

If this problem were more universal, I imagine there would be lots of complaints. Since I seem to be the only one, I understand the skepticism.
