Hi Christian,

Thank you for your message and very glad to hear that your personal
matters have been resolved sufficiently that you can continue with your
maintainership of vnstat (and also logrotate).

It has been an enjoyable couple of weeks of learning for me relative to
the art of packaging for Debian-based systems. My intention to become a
maintainer only began when Teemu (upstream dev of vnstat) wrote me back
in response to a bug report I sent him (about that vnstatd man page
issue) and mentioned that he'd had trouble getting in touch with you. So
that prompted me to "step in" and see if I could be of help.

If you are open to working as a team to maintain vnstat that would be
wonderful, as it would give me continued opportunities for learning and
collaboration relative to the whole matter of Debian packaging. If you
would like to ask for a shared repository then I would be very happy to
participate as a team member.

Also, thank you for the two technical notes you supplied about build
issues with vnstat. The past few days since my commits last Wednesday
have been busy with other packaging matters for Ubuntu-based systems,
however I have now done two new commits this morning for those issues
you mentioned and have uploaded a new NMU [1] to mentors. It seems to be
passing Lintian now, though with one small side comment about me not
being in the "Maintainers" or "Uploaders" field of debian/control.

Well, once again very glad you are back in action and I look forward to
the possibilities of collaboration on maintaining vnstat together.

Thanks,
Rob
