Hi again, I figured just switching to itstool might be the most straight forward solution and fortunately for someone as lazy as me I found that apparently fedora has already done that via a patch!
https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/shadow-utils/blob/master/f/shadow-4.6-use-itstool.patch I tried building the debian package with this patch included, Unfortunately the result isn't perfect. For example when looking at the de version of login(1) manpage about half of the longer chunks of text did not get translated (unlike in the original package). I assume the problem might be some trivial formatting issue where itstool might be more picky to find a match. Would be awesome if someone familiar with the translation infrastructure here could chime in on how it works and what might be the problem! Regards, Andreas Henriksson
