I was wondering that myself, I know lots of people using terminator for its split terminal views. Of course the standard gnome terminal, or whatever people are using, will support most use cases. But I'm not aware of any good alternative for terminator... Time is also my problem, I only jumped in to keep terminator in buster. I tried contacting the admins of the project on launchpad.
