Package: bugs.debian.org Severity: normal Dear Maintainer,
I want .XCompose to substitute a Malayalam character U0D19 with its conugate form U0D19 U0D4D U0D19. I couldn't get this to work. So, I tried to see if English substitutions would work or not. My .XCompose is, for the purpose of testing, consists of include "%L" <W> : "a long substitution" When I type W (holding down Shift), I get W itself. It does not get substituted with "a long substitution". This was tried in Konsole, Kate and Firefox. Everywhere the results are same. I tried the same under LXQt, ICEWM and XFCE, all with the same result. I installed Debian 32 bit with KDE using netinstall in an old netbook and tried the same. In the fresh install, in Konsole, W gets substituted with "a", the first character of "a long substitution" instead of the whole "a long substitution" -- System Information: Debian Release: 10.4 APT prefers stable APT policy: (500, 'stable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 4.19.0-9-amd64 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_IN, LC_CTYPE=en_IN (charmap=UTF-8), LANGUAGE=en_GB (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /usr/bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) LSM: AppArmor: enabled
