Tried it, but amaroK says "xine was unable to initialize any
audio-drivers." when I try to use the xine engine. .xsession-errors does
not contain anything useful:

[...]
amarok:       BEGIN: virtual bool XineEngine::init()
amarok: [xine-engine] 'Bringing joy to small mexican gerbils, a few
weeks at a time.'
amarok:         [xine-engine]
w00t/u/home/gombasg/.kde/share/apps/amarok/xine-config
amarok: END__: virtual bool XineEngine::init() - Took 0.69s
amarok: [controller] [WARNING!] Could not init() an engine
amarok: [PluginManager] Trying to load: libamarok_gst10engine_plugin
[... the gstreamer engine loads fine ...]

The only oddity I've noticed is that at the end of configure, xine-lib
said it detected "ALSA (>= 0.9, < 1.0.9)" while I have ALSA
1.0.10+1.0.11rc2-1 installed. However I found no place in configure
where the $have_alsa_1_0_9 variable is set. Is it possible that
something has changed in ALSA 1.0.9 that someone tried to support in
xine, but did not quite manage it?

Gabor
