I think I *might* be able to help with this part of the report, though.

The paper size is set per document, so you’d need to go to…

        MuseScore 2: L̲ayout → Page Settings…
        MuseScore 3: Fo̲rmat → Page Settings…

… and change the Page Size (for the current document) there.

People are trying to get upstream to at least implement some
kind of default setting and the templates have been fixed and
broken again several times hardcoding or not the paper size
(ideally they don’t hardcode it so the default is used); if
you create a new score by “choose instruments”, not using one
of the templates, you should get the MuseScore-version-wide
default.

Sorry for disappointing but I thought a status update was due.
