That's pretty strange... cause I know several packages who had some of
their conffiles also removed improperly and then cleaned up later on.

Perhaps a problem with the specified version?


I'd suggest to ask the dpkg folks how to do it right.

And it would still be not properly cleaned up, as dpkg would still
consider it there and a conffile.

This also causes troubles for tools like debums, which, AFIAU, then
fail with a missing conffile.
